Three Historic Australian 50c Coins
The 1970 Captain Cook 50c was Australia’s first decimal commemorative coin and marked the bicentenary of Captain James Cook’s charting of Australia’s east coast.
The 1988 Bicentenary 50c commemorated 200 years since the beginning of European settlement in Australia and features the distinctive First Fleet-inspired design.
Completing the collection is the 1998 Bass & Flinders 50c, issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the voyage by George Bass and Matthew Flinders that demonstrated Tasmania was an island.
