2024 Mexico Libertad – Mosaic Sugar Skull Edition 1 oz Silver Coin

A Mexican icon meets the unmistakable artistry of Día de los Muertos in the 2024 Mexico Libertad – Mosaic Sugar Skull Edition 1 oz Silver Coin.

Based on the internationally recognised Mexican Libertad, this special edition transforms the classic silver coin with an elaborate Mosaic Sugar Skull design. The vivid artwork draws inspiration from Mexico’s rich cultural traditions, combining colourful geometric details with the dramatic imagery of the calavera, or decorative skull.

Struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the underlying 2024 Libertad is already highly sought after by collectors around the world. The addition of the Mosaic Sugar Skull artwork gives this edition an entirely different personality, blending traditional Mexican coinage with contemporary collectible art.

The Mexican Libertad

The Mexican Libertad is one of the world's most distinctive modern bullion coins.

Its famous design celebrates Mexico's history and national identity, with the iconic Winged Victory standing before the volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.

Unlike many other bullion coins, the Libertad does not display a numerical face value. Instead, its value as legal tender is determined according to Mexican law based on its precious-metal content.

The combination of the historic Libertad design and vibrant Mosaic Sugar Skull treatment creates a standout piece for collectors who appreciate both classic bullion and modern coin art.

Día de los Muertos Inspiration

The decorative sugar skull, or calavera, has become one of the most recognisable visual elements associated with Mexico’s Día de los Muertos — Day of the Dead celebrations.

Rather than simply representing death, the colourful imagery is closely associated with remembrance, celebration and honouring those who have passed.

The Mosaic Sugar Skull Edition embraces this distinctive artistic tradition with intricate patterns and vibrant colour, creating a dramatic contrast against the underlying silver Libertad.
