The 1/2 Idaho Goldback represents Pietas, the virtue of Devotion, through imagery honouring Sacagawea and her connection to Idaho.

Sacagawea is depicted carrying her infant son, with the Bitterroot Mountains and Lolo Creek forming the landscape behind her. An Appaloosa mare and foal reinforce the theme of maternal devotion, while Idaho symbols including white pine, huckleberries and mountain bluebirds are incorporated throughout the artwork.

The design also references the Lolo Trail and the year 1805, connecting the artwork to Sacagawea's role during the Lewis and Clark Expedition through the region.
